Advance reservations are required. A valid Visa or MasterCard Credit Card number, PIN, and expiration date are required to secure a reservation until arrival. Your first night's stay will be charged upon making a reservation. The remainder of your room charges, along with Washington State sales & lodging tax, will be due the night before check-out. Refunds for early departures will be given only if we are able to rebook the room. The Kirk House is a small Bed and Breakfast with only four guest rooms. As such, we cannot overbook like large hotels. In order to provide our guests with the best experience possible, please carefully read the following cancellation policy:
Cancellation Period-within fourteen (14) days of scheduled arrival.
Deposit required for all reservations in the sum of the 1st night room charge. When reserving multiple rooms, each room is treated as a separate reservation.
All reservations are subject to the applicable cancellation period (14 days prior to stay).
If you cancel your entire reservation within the cancellation period, you will lose your deposit.
Pets are ONLY allowed upon approval in the Cottage ! No other accomdation allowes pet
Pet fee is $50.00 Please contact us to make arriagments.
Check-in time is between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Should your travel arrangements bring you to the Island earlier than check-in time, please call to see if your room is ready. If it is, we will gladly check you in and get you settled. If not, we will hold your luggage while you begin your adventures on San Juan Island. Should you plan to arrive after 6:00 pm, please let us know, and we will make arrangements to accommodate your arrival time.
Check out time is 11:00 am. We would be happy to hold any luggage until your departure, help you interpret ferry schedules, and get you on your way to your next destination on time.
A maximum of two (2) guests (including children 14 years and older) can be accommodated in each of our rooms. Our rooms are not suitable for children under the age of 14. Our insurance carrier will not allow us to accommodate unaccompanied minors.
Although we love pets, our facility is not equipped to handle pets of any kind. Boarding of pets may be possible at boarding facilities located nearby. Ask us for contact information when reserving.

Ferry Service to San Juan Friday Harbor
Now that you have booked your stay at the Kirkhouse, the next important step is to get your ferry reservations set up for your sailing to and from the island, if you plan on bringing a car.
You only pay to come to the island, and your return trip is free, however you still need a reservation both ways.
Do a search for WA State Department of Transportation and look for Ferry Services (WSDOT), Anacortes – Friday Harbor. Book your desired date and time. You will get directions to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. There is also a WADOT app for phones.
IMPORTANT:
If nothing is available don’t worry, you have more options:
- They will open more reservations 2 weeks before a sailing date at 7am – so set an alarm on your phone and log in to see what has opened up.
- They open up more reservations 2 days before a sailing – same time 7am
- There is also more reservations that open at 5pm the day before your sailing and even on the day you sail due to people cancelling their reservations to avoid being charged a fee for booking and no show.
- The ferries also allow room for people on standby – this means first come first serve but they allow 10% space for this, so if you cannot get a reservation you simple look at the sailing times and drive to the ferry terminal and get in line for standby. You will get on a ferry, you just may have to wait. (The Anacortes ferry terminal has paths to walk on the beach, to picnic and there is a restaurant and bathrooms on site, so us locals just pack a lunch and make the best of it, if we don’t have a reservation.)
You do not need a car to come to the Kirkhouse. We are within walking distance of town, shopping, multiple restaurants etc. The island has Taxi’s, a Jolly Trolly – that is like a Hop on Hop Off bus that takes you all over the island. You can rent a car or mopeds or little dune buggy type vehicles to get around in as well. You just park your car in the ferry terminal parking and walk on the ferry.
